So before we left on this journey, we never heard of anything called The Coquihalla. So we took Highway 1 through Cache Creek, Hell’s Gate and down into Hope. If you look at my blog from last year, you could see some incredible pictures, but it scared the living SHIT out of us. The Coquihalla was built in the 80s and is an incredible highway, but can be a little messy with weather as we read before we went up and read after we went there. Our travel from Aldergrove to Kamloops had beautiful weather and incredible scenery. 😁

We decided to spend a couple nights in Kamloops and going into town really didn’t interest us because we were in town last year. Like a lot like many other small Canadian towns it has all the supply amenities like Canadian Tire etc.

that you need. What did interest us was The BC wildlife Park. It is a rescue sanctuary for bears and other really cool animals like eagles. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk and love the animals. Here’s a link to it.

We also spent some time in Vernon and got to see our friend Sylvia and her daughter Bridgett. Great little reunion . While we were hanging out in this area, we also checked out Peachland and had a nice lunch because it’s a beautiful spot. British Columbia Okanagan Valley is wonderful.

So after Kamloops, we headed to Revelstoke and on our way, we saw that you could visit the spot where they put the last Spike in when they built a railway across Canada in the 1800s. Pretty cool with a cool monument sign to tell you all about it and just a darling little gift shop.

The stone monument has a stone from every province in Canada, which is neat 😁

We’ve been to Revelstoke before, so we decided to check out a few things that we didn’t see on our last visit. Monika’s getting a little sick at looking at trains so I just took some outside pictures and we drove up to the dam. As we’re pulling up to the dam, there’s a wood cutting museum, which has several interesting looking vehicles for sure. The dam is unbelievably large structure, and there was a pile of Germans visiting it when we were there. 😁

When we left Revelstoke, we landed in Golden our old stomping grounds. It’s a perfect RV park to stop at and they’re working on fixing it up and it’s very nice for a couple days stop over. We went to Radium Hot Springs for a swim and afterwards we had some German food at a wonderful Austrian restaurant right on Highway 93. The required beer, schnitzel and spaetzle was on the menu.

Next day we got up and we drove from Golden to Cochrane where we’re going to be based for the next 10 days or so. There is some unbelievable scenery and infrastructure coming through these mountains. We drove past Lake Louise and Banff. TheG7 Summit was in Kananaskis and there were some evidence of areas that were closed, but nothing that really bothered us.

A couple of things are planned while we’re here including the Calgary zoo. I think I want to look at some more airplanes. There’s a concert coming up possibly snow and I think we might have to go to Banff and sit in the hot water again.

Anyway, thanks for following along and check out the website

Cheers everybody

Terry and Monika
