Well, the windshield was finally repaired and we departed. Sault Ste. Marie KOA .
We spent one night in a hotel in Sault Ste. Marie due to the massive job of replacing the windshield and that was fun as we walked around downtown a little bit and went to the Casino for dinner (we didn’t win) 😝
We were then prepared for the road to Wawa, which was our next stop. Well, the road was not too bad in my opinion it could be a lot bigger as this is the major transportation road across Canada and is poorly maintained with soft shoulders and at times very scary.
We settled in our campground and jumped in the Mini and explored Wawa a little bit.
Everybody’s heard of the goose, but there’s actually three of them. Who would’ve thought.
We had a lovely little campground, nestled into the trees, and it was very quiet, but you could still hear the train. The next morning we got up and we headed towards Neys Provincial Park.
The road to Neys Provincial Park was interesting to say the least. Lots of up-and-down mountains and hills and just to make it even more fun we had heavy rain with hail. Oh Boy 😁
Nets Provincial Park is the site of a former World War II prisoner of war camp. As per the Internet, there was 35,000 people here up until 1946 while all the buildings and so on are gone the visitor centre has the history of it as well as a few relics. Naturally during my visit the visitor centre was closed, but I did manage to take some pictures through the windows.
From what I read many of these prisoners returned to the area afterwards, as they were impressed with the beauty of it, and there is no denying that. The beach on the coast of Lake Superior was wonderful and would rival any southern Beach except the water was freezing.
We’re now camped out at our friends Don and Sue in Nipigon for the next several days. We’re going to explore the area with them and I’m sure it’ll be a blast. Until next post, thanks for following along. 😀
