Our campground in Cochrane is in reality, a springboard to visit Calgary and beautiful Banff.
I remember the area from when I went to the Calgary Winter Olympics, and lived there for about a year. The city sure has grown.
Well, we missed the stampede but that was OK as he gave us a chance to look around the city during a quieter time. The Bell Studio basically is Canada‘s rock ‘n’ roll museum housing the Canadian music Hall of Fame.. A lotta cool things Neil Young’s guitar. Anne Murray guitar and a photo of our good friend Ritchie Yorke with John Lennon and a very large Beatles exhibition. The hotel across the street which is a Calgary music landmark called The King Edward Hotel houses the Rolling Stones mobile recording studio control truck, which were responsible for albums likes of Led Zeppelin 3 resides 😎
We ventured fourth in the Mini , nice and early and headed to Banff. It is a spectacular town and I was really glad that I went nice and early so I could walk around before the crowds appeared. We went for a lovely walk along the trail where the river is an up to the Banff Springs Hotel we admired the beautiful gardens, drank a beer took a couple pictures of the scenery . We drove out to Lake Minnewanka to check out Bankhead Ghost Town but it was so packed with people. We took some pictures and headed back to Cochrane
We did encounter some pretty cool wildlife during the journey and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Later in this adventure we will be in Golden on the other side of the mountains and we may visit again 🤓
My cousin Scott came over to visit us in our camp ground and we had a barbecue. We have not seen each other in many many years and it was a lovely reunion. We had a chance to play some guitar together, which sounded great. We then spent a day doing a little maintenance work like getting an oil change for the Mini and so on. 😄
The Bow River ran right near our campground, and we went for a couple of walks down there and checked out all the dogs enjoying the water as well. There was all kinds of doggies running in and out of the water and generally having the best time and this was very cool to see.
We’ve departed from this very quiet and good hook up and good Internet campground and headed off to the Badlands in the Drumheller area. Dinosaurs here we come. 😎
